Album Announcement–‘Vocal Explorations’ by Mischa Falkenberg

cmntx records is proud to announce Vocal Explorations by Mischa Falkenburg to be released on January 14 as the first release on our Interjections Series.

In the winter of 1980, Mischa Falkenburg was employed on an offshore oil rig working two weeks out at sea and one week on land. On December 8, 1980, Mischa, like much of the world, learned of John Lennon’s tragic death. Knowing Lennon’s fondness for manipulation of tape recordings, Mischa began recording sounds from the radio onto his reel-to-reel tape machine while waiting for more news to come in about Lennon. The layers of sound accumulated throughout the evening resulting in otherworldly swells of rhythm, texture, and harmony.

These intricate tape compositions remain highly evocative today, more than forty years after their creation.
