cmntx-001HUM is a collaborative effort between composers Marc Giguere, Alex Ring Gray, and Vicki Leona Nguyen, who met as classmates at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The album was composed and recorded in a single afternoon at Giguere’s home in Nashville, TN in the summer of 2019.
The creative foundation was the scavenging and building of instruments between the three composers. The work is structured in three sections derived from this collection: bowed metals, strings, and struck metals. These sections dovetail with one another, forming one extensive evolution through different sound environments. The resulting textures range from thin and delicate to dense washes of sound.
The album is available in both stereo and immersive spatial audio formats.
